Evaluating the effectiveness of NSAIDs and vasopressin receptor antagonists as primary dysmenorrhea treatments

Primary dysmenorrhea describes the intensely painful uterine contractions experienced during menstruation. It is associated with elevated prostaglandin production in area and primarily affects adolescents. There are several treatment options available for primary dysmenorrhea, however, there a lapse research assessing their efficacy reliability. The purpose of this review to provide an overview evaluation two forms dysmenorrhea: non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) vasopressin receptor antagonists. While studies conducted on effectiveness NSAIDs have shown consistent results, antagonists remains contradictory. As such, clinical inconclusive, exposing limitations areas that require additional research. Furthermore, discusses promising novel treatments (i.e. levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine devices, intravaginal rings, transdermal patches) highlights importance validation.
